Tacos are a perfect hit among children. The best thing about it is that you can fill it with any filling of your choice and it turns out equally tasty. This light and healthy recipe can be made very easily. Taco is originally a Mexican Dish which comprises of a tortilla which is folded with a filling of your choice. Some like it spicy and cheesy, whereas some like it sweet and tangy. My favorite thing about tacos is the messy way how we eat it. It does not need any spoon or fork and you just need to gulp it down. 
So, in the season of mangoes, what can be better than preparing a tangy mango salsa along with some chicken to make a filling for the tacos. Hence, I decided to prepare my Mango Salsa Tacos. 
Tacos with Mango Salsa and Chicken


What you need

  • 2 Tortillas or Home made Chapatis ( I used the latter) 
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Chicken (grilled or fried)
For the Salsa:
  • 1 Mango, cubed
  • 1/2 Green Bell Pepper, diced 
  • 1/2 Tomato, diced
  • 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tsp Coriander Leaves, chopped
  • 1 Green Chili, chopped
  • 2 Green Onions, chopped
  • Salt as per taste

How to make it?

Making the Mango Salsa: 
  • In a bowl, add in all the ingredients that you need for the Salsa.
  • I also added the chicken to it at this stage, so that the chicken can also absorb the flavors of mango and other ingredients properly. 
  • Mix it properly so that the flavor of every ingredient blends together.
  • Let it rest for at least 30  minutes to get the proper flavor.

Making the Tacos:
  • While you are resting the salsa, prepare your tortillas. You may use corn, wheat or flour tortillas. 
  • Warm the tortillas if you have got them from the stores or prepare your own if you do not wish to buy it.
  • Put in the chicken in it and then add the Mango Salsa to it.
  • Your mango salsa tacos are ready for you to enjoy.

  • You may skip the addition of chicken if you wish to keep it completely vegetarian.
  • It would be the best if you use Jalapenos instead of Green Chilies. I did not find Jalapeno and hence I had to resort to Green Chilies.
